Building Your Personal Career Brand
Over 125 young and budding students, graduates, established and industry-leading professionals attended the fully registered AHEPA – NUGAS Business Breakfast at the Crown Palladium on Tuesday 31 March.
In our second consecutive year of collaboration, AHEPA Youth and NUGAS Victoria presented yet another formidable and star-studded panel, consisting of eminent philhellene, former Victorian Premier and Beyond Blue founding Chairman the Hon Jeff Kennett AC, founding Managing Partner of Boston Consulting Group Australia & NZ and Victoria University Chancellor George Pappas, and Asia Pacific’s leading digital marketing and brand strategist and CEO of PENSO, Constantine Frantzeskos.
The panel was moderated by AHEPA Youth Governor Jiannis Tsaousis and discussed “Building Your Career Brand: How to Stand Out”, in which the panellists gave insight into their career highs, lows and flashpoints, their business and personal philosophies, their views on university reforms and analysed empirical work experience vis-à-vis postgraduate studies in regards to career advancement.
The event was emceed by NUGAS Victoria President Tass Sgardelis and featured a presentation by Greek Community President and Moray & Agnew Lawyers Managing Partner Bill Papastergiadis on his experience in fostering the growth of Moray & Agnew Lawyers and the maturation of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria.
AHEPA National President Christine Lynch OAM thanked the panellists for their wise counsel and invaluable insight into their career success and highlighted the strong link between AHEPA’s core tenet of active citizenship with the advice given by the panel.
Students and graduates were seated alongside leading professionals from a range of industries, including finance, accounting, management consulting, law, community and public service, engineering, construction, arts and culture, science, medicine and technology.

The Hon. Jeffrey Kennett AC
Mr Kennett is the founding Chairman of beyondblue: the national depression initiative and has been Chairman since 2000.
The Hon Jeffrey Kennett AC was an Officer in the Royal Australian Regiment, serving at home and overseas. He was a Member of the Victorian Parliament for 23 years, and was Premier of the State from 1992 to 1999.
Mr Kennett was elected Member for Burwood 1976.

Mr Kennett is currently Chairman of Open Windows Australia Pty Ltd, Chairman of CT Management Group Pty Ltd, Chairman of Amtek Corporation Pty Ltd and Chairman of LEDified Lighting Corporation Pty Ltd.
Mr Kennett is a Director of Equity Trustees Limited and Primary Opinion Limited, is Patron of The Royal District Nursing Service and Sovereign Hill Ballarat and is associated with many other community organisations.
From 2000-06, Mr Kennett was a Member of the Singapore Tourism Advisory Board; from 2005-11, he was President of the Hawthorn Football Club, and; from 2004-07, he was Chairman of Australian Seniors Finance Ltd.
In 2005 Mr Kennett was awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia.
George Pappas BEc(Hons)Monash, MBA Harvard Business School
George Pappas became the fourth Chancellor of Victoria University on 1 January 2010.
George was born in Rhodes, Greece and emigrated to Australia in 1952. He has a Bachelor of Economics with First Class Honours from Monash University (1968) and an MBA, with Distinction, from Harvard Business School (1971).
After graduating from Harvard Business School in 1971, George joined the international management consulting firm, The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Boston, later moving to Tokyo.
He returned to Australia and co-founded Pappas Carter Evans and Koop (PCEK) in 1979.
Over the next ten years, PCEK became the leading Australian management consultancy providing strategic advice to the top management of our largest companies. Following BCG's acquisition of PCEK in 1990, George became Managing Partner of BCG's Australasian offices and a member of BCG's worldwide Executive Committee.
George retired from BCG in 2002 and remains a Senior Advisor to the firm. Since then George has undertaken several assignments for State and Federal governments, including serving as the Under Secretary of the Victorian Premier's Department from 2003 to 2005 and leading the Audit of the Federal Defence Budget in 2008. He was a participant in former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's 2020 Summit.
George was appointed Chairman of the Committee for Melbourne in 2004. In this role until 2013, he led a group whose members comprise a cross section of the city's most influential companies and institutions. George has personally led the Committee's effort to support new and innovative industry development, as well as the promotion of Melbourne's Higher Education sector.
As Chairman of Energy Matters Pty Ltd, George is leading and mentoring a group of young entrepreneurs who are establishing one of Australia's leading suppliers and installers of clean energy products.
George also chairs the Federal Government's Defence Strategic Reform Advisory Board and is a Director of the Western Bulldogs Football Club.
Constantine Frantzeskos BEc Monash
He has directed global campaigns for clients including: Emirates, Coca-Cola, Unilever, Diageo, BP / Castrol, Coles, ANZ, CUB, Treasury Wine Estates, Jetstar, Suncorp Insurance and Toyota.
Con is a fervent fan of pop music and his encyclopaedic knowledge on the subject came to great use in the nine years he spent on the board of the Australian Federal Government’s Contemporary Music Touring Program. Outside of emphatically ensuring his client partner’s business problems are solved, Constantine is a tremendously passionate supporter of the Collingwood Football Club and Juventus FC.
